Read more about Georgette Mosbocher, CEO of Borghese

What happens when you mix top Democrats, staunch Republicans, a recent Oscar winner, a newspaper editor, a supermarket magnate, and others in a former midtown speakeasy, otherwise known as the basement of the '21' Club? Come aboard for a fascinating, wine-fueled dinner . . .

It is a rare treat to find yourself supping on filet and sipping a decidedly heady vintage in the '21' Club's wine cellar, a former speakeasy hide-away, tucked behind a two-and-a-half ton wall. But it's even more unique to have a senator, a congressman, an Oscar winner, a top newspaper editor, and an outspoken businesswoman/socialite - among others - joining you. That's why, at a pivotal point in recent US history, with the country at war, Gotham was lucky to be a fly on the wall as a virtual think tank of New York City's top decision and taste-makers discussed everything from politics to the Academy Awards. It was appropriate then, at this former speakeasy, that the war-minded dinner guests did just that: spoke easily; letting their words - and the wine - flow freely.

Read the entire conversation in Gotham's May, 2003 issue.
